GeekWord – Slacktivism

Slactivism [noun] slaktivisum

Contraction formed from the words slack and activism.  Refers to actions or practices in support of a social issue or cause that both have very little impact on the issue and requires a minimum amount of effort on the slacktivist’s part. Examples are Internet petitions, chain emails and copy & pasted Facebook status updates.  Can also include t-shirts and bumper stickers with social messages.

I’m going to be the 98 percent of people that don’t copy and paste your status message.  Not because I don’t agree with your cause, but because I don’t see how that slacktivist act will do any good.
