GeekWord – Cosplay

Cosplay [kahz-play]  noun, verb

A contraction of Costume Play.  The act of dressing as, and often acting like a fictional character, usually inspired by a movie, comic book, TV show, video game or other popular media.  Can also refer to the costume itself.  Commonly seen at popular media and anime conventions.  The term has it’s roots in Japan where Cosplay is common among young people dressing as characters from popular anime and manga.

The quality of work from the Cosplayers at DragonCon this year was fantastic, I don’t know where they find the time to make such detailed costumes.
