GeekWord – RetCon

RetCon [noun, verb] retkahn

Contraction of Retroactive Continuity.  Changing the history or back story of a character or event in order to justify inconsistencies created by new story lines.  Typically seen in long running comic book series where there is a long running history and back story.

Star Trek (2009) wouldn’t make sense without a gratuitous amount of RetCon.
